GIZA CARPET: AN EFFECTIVE NAME IN CARPET SECTOR

Erkan Bükücü: “Our research and development team has long years of experience in carpet sector. Their experience and wide perspective enable us to produce unique designs, which is in fact a blend of customer trends from past to present. The diversity of our products is a total advantage for us because this way, we can address many people. In our production, there is no limitation for design and color options. This is another advantage for our domestic and export sales.”

Regarded as an important carpet production center, Gaziantep is today hosting several companies who are exporting high quality carpets to the world. Founded in 1978, Bükücü Tekstil has become one of the leading producers in the country. The company offers rich carpet collections which arouse great attention both in national and international markets. Recently, Floor Magazine has interviewed Mr. Erkan Bükücü, Marketing Director of Bükücü Tekstil about the latest investments and innovations of the company.

Floor Magazine: What type of products do you have and what is your annual production capacity?

Mr. Bükücü: In different qualities and sizes, we have a yearly production of 2.5 million square meters. For our customers in Turkey and foreign countries, we produce polypropylene, acrylic, wool, friese and heatset PP carpets. Since February 2003, Giza Carpets are manufactured with ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System certificate.

Floor Magazine: The brand name you initially created was “Çayırlı Carpet”. However this name has been changed to Giza Carpet after a while. What were your reasons in such a change?

Mr. Bükücü: Our products under the name Çayırlı Carpet were highly appreciated in overseas markets. However, the name included Turkish characters, which was a serious handicap by means of pronouncation especially in the export regions. This was also blocking our objective in becoming a global brand. After the evaluations of our administrative board and the brand specialists, we decided to adopt one of the previous product names, Giza, as our international brand name.

Floor Magazine: Your company stands out with its innovative approach in carpet sector. How did you achieve this accomplishment?

Mr. Bükücü: This is really related to the R&D activities within our structure. Our research and development team has long years of experience in carpet sector. Their experience and wide perspective enable us to produce unique designs, which is in fact a blend of customer trends from past to present. Sometimes we develop modern carpets according to the demands of our customers. The diversity of our products is a total advantage for us because this way, we can address many people. In our production, there is no limitation for design and color options. This is another advantage for our domestic and export sales.
